ANYTHING, ANYWHERE BUT NOW!
MAX3MIN is an international festival of short films that have a maximum running time of 3 minutes, an observatory on contemporary life that goes through the form of the micro-short film, and offers a hyper-stimulating journey through time and space. Founded in 2021 as a digital festival, from its second year it was transformed into a hybrid festival, to take the selected films on to the large screen and, for every new edition, it keeps expanding its presence in the territory of Milan and its programme.
The fourth edition of the festival will be held in 2024: first in Milan with an event of 3 days in the first weekend of October, where the screenings of the competitions will be accompanied by non-competitive films, meetings and workshops, music and art, good food and moments of fun; then online all over the world, through the free platform www.max3min.com where for one week the programme can be seen with only registration on the website and available in all countries.
The aim of MAX3MIN is to be a showcase for short, very short films, and a megaphone for all filmmakers who tell their stories of the world through images and a new language that makes shortness and quickness its force.

For the International Competition, MAX3MIN accepts films of all genres, on any topic, from any country in the world. Fiction, animation, documentary and mockumentary, videoclip, advertising, video art,… The result will be a celebration of super-short cinema, brimming over with ideas, contaminations and stimuli, as always in search of the stories of a world that is changing – at the very time when it is changing. Here and now.

The selection team pays particular attention to the geographical composition of the competition: MAX3MIN opens windows on to unconventional stories far from Western-centric narrations, to reflect as far as possible the heterogeneity of the films entered and the different national cultures of the various countries.

Alongside the International Competition, the NEXT GEN prize is back, dedicated to the best short films made by students at film schools and academies all over the world, with the aim of encouraging the study of moving images, giving aspiring directors a concrete opportunity to compete in an international competition.

MAX3MIN JURY’S AWARD: the international jury will choose the best five short films and award the winner a prize of € 3,000.

MAX3MIN NEXT GEN AWARD: a dedicated jury will award a technical prize (e.g. past editions: a mirrorless Panasonic Lumix DMC-G80MEG-K digital camera, a graphics tablet Wacom Intuos Pro), useful for the student’s training, for the best short film.

MAX3MIN AUDIENCE’S AWARD: the public in Milan can express their preferences and proclaim their three favourite short films.

MAX3MIN ONLINE AUDIENCE’S AWARD: also during the online screenings, the public will have the chance to choose their favourite short film and proclaim the winner of the International Competition and Next Gen.
