1. RULES AND REGULATIONS
The 8th edition of the SEEYOUSOUND INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FILM FESTIVAL (International Festival focus on music-‐themed films) will take place in Torino (Italy) in February 2022.
SEEYOUSOUND FESTIVAL aims to promote the dissemination of domestic and International works able to narrate the vast and broad world of music through the language of filmmaking.
The festival is the brainchild of Seeyousound Cultural Association that organizes with the collaboration and support of public institutions and private sponsors. The Festival’s purpose consists in supporting, strengthening the audio-visual culture, and generating a reflection about the importance and influence of music-themed films.
The Festival’s program consists of the International Competitions, the non‐competitive sections (focus and retrospectives), and of special events.
The submission of films to the Festival is subject to the payment of an entry fee detailed as follows:

“LONG PLAY” FICTION FEATURE FILM INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: 20 €
"RISING SOUNDS" / "INTO THE GROOVE" NON-COMPETITIVE SECTIONS: 20 €
“7‐INCH” SHORT FILM INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: 10 €
“SOUNDIES” MUSIC VIDEOS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: 10 €
1. INTERNATIONAL NOT-COMPETITIVE SECTIONS RULES AND SUBMISSIONS
1.1. These are not-competitive sections and there are no restrictions regarding the date of production. The selection and the screening schedule of the works considered appropriate to be part of the general program are the sole responsibility of the Artistic Committee of the Festival.
1.2. These sections may provide an annual focus and insights on specific issues or on individual genres decided by the artistic director and his/her staff.
1.3 From this edition will be possible also to submit films for evaluation for the two non-competitive sections named "RISING SOUNDS" (a review focused on new hybrid sounds growing and developing thanks to the connections and influences which Internet and the digital evolution now allows, a mix between tradition and innovation that shape the sound of the future or films portraying artists, scenes, genres which music had or have to impact on a social, political, activist level) and INTO THE GROOVE (a "pop" container which tries to gather the best music film production of the year, a still anticonformist but more generalistic space which tries to embrace the wider audience and music tastes possible).
1.4 As for the competition also submissions for these sections are subjected to an entry fee of 20,00 €.
2. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
2.1. This section allows feature films (documentary and fictions), short films, and music videos of any nationality.
The theme of the proposed work must be explicitly music-based (musicians and music producers biopics, portraits of authors, singers or bands, reflections on music genres, critical insights, backstage stories pertaining to music in all its forms, etc.).
2.2. Works that have been submitted to the Festival’s previous editions will not be accepted.
2.3. Participants can submit their works without limits, in one or more categories of the competition sections.
2.4. The selection, the general program, and the screening schedule are the sole responsibility of the Artistic Committee of the Festival.
2.5. The competition is divided into three sections:
a) LONG-PLAY – Documentary and Feature Films Competition
o A Feature Film is considered a movie (fictional, experimental, or documentary) with a duration of more than 30 minutes.
o To be eligible, works must have been realized since the 1st January 2020 or been screened publicly for the first time after that date.
b) 7 INCH. – Short Films Competition
o A Short Film is considered a movie (fictional, experimental, or a documentary) with a duration of fewer than 30 minutes.
o To be eligible, works must have been realized since the 1st January 2020 or been screened publicly for the first time after that date.
c) SOUNDIES – Music Video Competition
o The Festival recognizes as music-video a short film produced for a music track’s promotional or academic purposes.
o To be eligible, works must have been realized since the 1st January 2021 in the music production field.
2.7. By submitting the film, you assume the responsibility for the content of the work and declare to be the owners of all rights (direct and indirect) on the work itself.
3. SPECIAL EVENTS (Special screenings, side events)
3.1. A program of appointments and music-themed side events (not only cinematographic) will develop around the core of the Festival.
4. INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION – HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK FOR SELECTION
4.1. The entry submission to participate in the selection process must be made following the procedure and the link that you find on our website www.seeyousound.org and have to be done no later than November 15, 2021.
4.2. Registration must include:
a) Link to the film screener: for the selection stage, please provide your screener preview through a video streaming service (Vimeo or Youtube is preferred) specifying URL and password on your entry form. The link must be operative until 1st March 2022.
The Direction of the Festival is committed not to disclose the screeners previews of the works received.
b) Subtitles: Italian (or English if Italian is not available) subtitles in .srt format (SubRip format) are required for a not‐Italian speaking feature and short films. The .srt file will have to be sent with the entry form. The Festival production team will be in charge of the translation of the subtitles. The rights on the translated subtitles will remain the property of the Festival.
c) Short synopsis: please provide a short synopsis on your entry form (max 500 characters).
d) Bio-filmography of the director or team to be provided on your entry form (max 500 characters). Please highlight prizes and special mentions.
4.3. Every author is responsible for the content of his/her own work and declares to be the owners of all rights (direct and indirect) on the work itself.
4.4. The submission and the acceptance of the present regulation give to SEEYOUSOUND Festival the authorization to archive the works received in its own files and to use them in the future -‐ upon the author and/or production’s agreement – for public screenings with educational, social and cultural purposes, for publishing their data on the event’s website, on promotional material and press release.
